Our Story

Established in 2009, in Kochi, India, Cinematographers’ Union of Malayalam Cinema (CUMAC) proudly represents over 550+ talented members, ranging from seasoned veterans to promising young talent. CUMAC is a part of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), the apex body of 21 trade unions working at various levels of the Malayalam film industry. Throughout its history, the Union has celebrated artistic excellence and collective strength in Malayalam cinema. This rich legacy inspires our mission and vision, driving us to build a brighter future for our community.

OUR MISSION

At CUMAC, we aim to empower and support cinematographers and assistant cinematographers in Malayalam cinema. We are dedicated to ensuring fair working conditions, professional growth, and an environment where every creative voice is heard. We work tirelessly for our members' general empowerment and welfare, offering assistance and resolving issues, especially for our veteran and ailing colleagues. Additionally, we collaborate with similar organisations and federations within the industry to create and implement programs that uplift all movie industry professionals, fostering a strong, interconnected community that stands together in support and advancement.

By strengthening our networks, embracing new technologies, and promoting continuous growth, we aim to transform the filmmaking landscape locally and globally, ensuring our members’ contributions drive the evolution of cinema. Our goal is to see every member, whether a seasoned veteran or an emerging talent, recognized and supported through innovative programs, fair practices, and mutual collaboration.
